FINEST 19TH
SEVRES PORCELAIN COMPOTE WITH ORMOLU, 2 GILT SATYR HANDLES AROUND A MOUNTED COBALT BLUE PAINTED BOWL
FEATURING SCENIC PANELS SIGNED "C. LABARRE"
This compote represents the highest craftsmanship of
Sevres quality having the finest painted panels with the shadow detail and
scenic background along with the most magnificent gilt bronze mounts I have
ever seen. Look for yourself at the fine details and composition of the
Satyr mounts and you will agree that Sevres did not manufacture quality any
higher than this monumental piece encompasses.
Center panels are present on front and rear
of the piece each framed with raised enamel gold. The front panel is signed
by the artist “C. LABARRE” at lower right. The rear panel is equally
detailed as the front panel which is a nice feature. Pictures cannot do this
piece justice. I tried to highlight the detail of the painting along with
the Satyr bronzes to give you the feel of the magnificent detail of this
masterpiece.
